Westside Housing Organization Welcomes
a New Executive Director
Kathryn M. Walker began working with Westside Housing Organization as a financial consultant in the fall of 2004. In September of 2005 Kathryn took the helm as the new Executive Director, bringing with her over 20 years of business and financial management experience, along with her CPA designation and a Masters degree in Business Administration.
Kathryn's career prior to joining WHO established a firm foundation in community and real estate development, property management, financing tools and fund development. She served for eight years as the Chief Financial Officer for another Kansas City Community Development Corporation (CDC), the Kansas City Neighborhood Alliance (KCNA). Kathryn's work experience prior to KCNA included serving as Controller for two for-profit entities, in the legal and commercial real estate fields. These positions provided her with extensive experience and understanding of sound business and financial practices.
Kathryn was a founding board member and also served as secretary and board chairperson for the Sustained Excellence Alliance Corporation, which is focused on promoting excellence in CDC performance nationwide. She has also served as acting treasurer for the local Community Development Association of Greater Kansas City, an organization of 10 CDCs.
